After 29 years in downtown St. Marys, the St. Marys Submarine Museum is officially preparing to move to a new home—the recently approved location inside the new St. Marys City Hall building in midtown.  This exciting transition comes with incredible benefits: More than double the space for displays, improved flood protection, closer proximity to Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay and room to host larger events, and showcase many more artifacts currently in storage

“We’ll be able to curate it. We’ll have greater flexibility,” said Ret. Navy Senior Chief Keith Post, Museum Manager. “I think it’s going to be great for the community.”

With help from an architect, planning is underway, and a donor has pledged $250,000 in matching funds towards a $1 million goal.  The museum expects to make the move within 12 to 18 months.
